Stardate:2406.11.26 (USS Boudicca - Officer's mess - TAC/ASC Lt. Stolev - Day 3 - 1241) "Good afternoon Caleb, Doctor Monroe. Hope I'm not interrupting. And by the way, if you're planning a poker game, count me in," said Stolev with a smile. Talda tore his eyes from the PADD and looked up at Stolev. "Good afternoon, lieu... er... Sasha. Sir. Not at all, sir... have a seat," he spoke as he gestured to the several empty chairs. Dr. Munroe smiled at Stolev. "Consider yourself counted in Lt. And please, join us. I was just thinking that it's been a while since we've had anything ... fun.. to do, and when this is all over, we might need some relaxation time. I know that poker always went over well in the science academy. So what have you been up to?" she asked. "If you excuse me for saying so, you don't smell too good." "Been a busy morning, sir?" asked Talda, a bit more diplomatically. "Well, I actually came here straight from training," admitted Stolev apologetically. "I was going to find a nice table off by myself, but I saw you two here and thought I'd take the opportunity to ask if we had any more information about the planetary system. We're anxious to incorporate as much detail as we can into our training scenarios." Talda arched an eyebrow at Stolev's comment. "As a matter of fact, sir, it appears that we do have some newly available data on the system." Pausing for a moment to glance at the readout, Talda added, "A lot of new data, by the looks of it." "Well," Munroe said between a mouthful of food and a drink from her shake, "all we have so far is speculation and assumption, but you're welcome to those if you want." She indicated the PADD that Talda was looking at. Then she smiled a bright smile. "We want you fellas to come back safely now. After all, I want that chance to beat the pants off you at poker." Stolev grinned. "I'll keep that in mind. It's been a while though, so you'll have to take it easy on me." The ACSO took a sip of his beverage before continuing. "Sir, it will take me a couple of hours to get anything usable out of this, more to give a detailed analysis. That being said, I think that you - and the rest of the responsible parties - should know that our target planet has an extremely strong magnetic field. So much so, that, if this data is correct, we might have severe difficulty using transporters to reach the planet's surface. If, in fact, we can use them at all." Stolev simply stared at Talda for a moment. "A shuttle-based assault, eh?" he eventually managed. "Well that'll be a little bit more tricky than we thought." "Mind a fourth wheel?" Stolev looked up to see the ship's counsellor, whom he had consciously been avoiding since arriving on board. He hoped she hadn't paid too much attention to the part of his transfer orders requiring regular psychotherapy visits. "I don't think we've had a chance to meet yet," she said. "I'm ship's counsellor, Dr. Domini Alizara." Stolev stood up and politely offered his hand. "Lieutenant Aleksander Stolev. Assistant tactical chief and away team security operations. Nice to meet you." His mind was still racing to grasp all the implications of the inability to use transporters in the rescue mission. With two bites out of his burger, Talda suddenly stood up and grabbed his tray. "Excuse me lieutenant, doctor, but if I am going to present this data in a usable manner, I need to be working on it ten minutes ago. Looks like lunch in the lab for me!" He smiled ruefully. Stolev nodded. "I appreciate that, Caleb. I'll look forward to seeing the rest of the data." He silently hoped that there wouldn't be any more surprise monkey-wrenches thrown into the away mission by the rest of the data. (reply any) With that, Talda hurriedly made his way to the turbolift. Stolev pulled his chair back to his own table and sat down. "If you ladies will excuse me, I'm afraid I'll have to eat and run so I can get this new information incorporated into our away mission simulation. Nice to meet you, Doctor Alizara." She ordered miso and rice and some other japanese food to go with it, as well as strong black tea. She needed the caffeine. Then she turned to look for a table and saw Maddie sitting way too close to that new Tactical guy. ~He's extraordinarily handsome~ Domini thought for a moment feeling vaguely attracted to him. Then her blood ran cold. ~He's far too close to her!~ She walked over, keeping the jealousy out of her walk and demeanor. then she heard the discussion. Poker. ~Ugh.~ She sighed, and saw that Maddie didn't see her. ::Hello Beautiful.:: Domini sent to her, and grinned. "Mind a fourth wheel?" She asked, trying to keep the edge off her voice. A smile grew on her face. The two of them had had very little time together lately, for one reason or another. Maddie found herself missing the councilor more often. Seeing her noe, and watching her walk towards them was something she took time to enjoy. Then she felt a warm thought go through her mind. ::Hello Beautiful.:: "Mind a fourth wheel?" Domini asked. Maddie moved over and patted the seat that she just vacated, her smile growing wider. "I don't think we've had a chance to meet yet," She said to the officers with them, "I'm ship's counsellor, Dr. Domini Alizara." "And the best in the fleet," Maddie added, looking quite proud. "I was just trying to get a poker game going. I know you don't particularly like it, but I sure would like you to join us. But no cheating." Maddies eyes narrowed playfully, looking at her chastising her for telepathy she hadn't done yet. (reply Domini, Talda, Stolev) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.11.26 (USS Boudicca- Mess Hall- Lt. Dru Tagon- 1250) The days activities began early. First Major Straton, who was oobviously vexed over the performance last night, had decided to take things a little slower. So it was taking dry runs at the objective. This was little else than warm-ups. The major ran them all through their paces. Others began to complain about weariness. Tagon just looked at them with disgust and muttered, "I guess you don't want your captain back." That pretty much put an end to most of the complaining. Tagon had learned from his first experience. He'd gotten soft, mostly in his thinking. Now he was able to get his mind back into shape. Once Straton felt that they were ready she began to add the "other side." The team got nailed again. This time it was Tagon who was last to fall. Straton went through the team and critiqued their performances. When she came to Tagon, she just grunted and shook her head. Tagon had no idea what that meant, but he didn't like the idea that she had nothing to say to him. He knew already, that he shouldn't have left the team like he did. There were more grumbles that they weren't marines, but they were quickly squashed by Tagon's glare. He knew that they were just as capable as Straton's marines, but the marines would leave a wake of destruction around them that might get Sevant killed. He knew that in their book, that was an acceptable alternative. It wasn't for him. Pretty soon, the team began to jell, and they continued to get further along in the simulation. By the time they got throught the seventh run they completed the mission. There was a sense of satisfaction and a cheer from the group went up. Tagon could tell that even Straton had been slightly impressed. But Tagon had already sensed that they could do better. He had already picked up his pulse rifle before Straton said the words. "All right people, let's do it again!" That was the one. Even Tagon was satisfied that they couldn't do any more without more specific information. Eva gave the team the rest of the day to recuperate. Tagon found himself to be a bit hungry so he headed for the mess hall. Normally Tagon liked to eat by himself, but since he joined this team he felt the desire to be around others. He was going to miss it when he went back to Nimitz. As the Brikarian walked into the room he noticed Stolev talking to a small group of people. He recognized the CSO, Munroe, but not the other twom. He loomed over to them. "Lt. Stolev," he nodded. "Ladies, Ensign." (reply Stolev, Domini, Munroe, Talda) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.11.27 (USS Nimitz- holodeck 1 - CSO Gralen - 0800) Holis walked into his office and sat down with a sigh, last night had been over late and he hadn't had time to talk with Vorik about their plans. He got up and replicated another cup of coffee and took a sip of the hot and heavy beverage as he looked about the room, his favorite wall ornaments and deep blue cloth set over the desk were soothing, things were going to get very tense in a matter of days and he needed whatever comfort he could wring from his surroundings. The room had a very soft but masculine feel, the hangings had sharp edges and deep colors and the cloth... well the cloth had a scene set in silver thread of the slaying of some terrible beast by an armored warrior.    Holis was not a warrior himself but he relished the opportunity to be one by proxy. ~Does this battle qualify me for one? I don't think so, I know I sure don't feel like one. Maybe I need someone to put me on a workout schedule now that I am on a ship and teach me to fight.~ He mused for a moment on that thought then laughed. "Sure Holis so you can go up against someone who has been training for half their life and get your a** kicked."    He laughed again at the thought then shook his head and tapped the comm button. "Mr. Vorik please come to my office, it's time I updated you on the strategy Paul Casely and I have worked out for the coming confrontation."   (Reply: Vorik)   (Posted by Charles) Stardate:2406.11.28 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - CO - Captain Devan Sash- 0730) Sash sat in his command chair looking over the last of the reports.  The last two days had proved to be most useful.  Firstly, the pool tournament had had its desired effect.  The crew was working better together and seemed more comfortable and relaxed.  They still understood the importance of what they had to do, but now they were more mentally prepared.  After Zzt had completed the repairs to his quarters Sash had decided that at a time like this it was foolish to keep his best engineer locked up on a technicallity.  Lichfield had not recovered as well from his injuries he sustained at the hands of Zzt, but he too would have been under lock and key for not only having an unauthorized weapon, but discharging it at a fellow crew mate, not to mention his immediate supervisor.  Kane seemed no worse for the wear, but his constant state of confusion was getting a little annoying. The most unnerving thing though, was Darteena Bixx.  It became a little distracting at times to look over and see her looking back at him.  He was even more uncertain how to treat her.  He had to maintain his distance,  and be her CO.  They'd had no time to be together since the night of the pool tournament.  The strange thing was, that he actually enjoyed his evening with her.  Not only was she attractive, but she turned out to be quite intelligent, and well spoken, and not the least bit shy.  It was refreshing. He looked over and she was smiling at him.  He returned the smile and looked around to see if anyone had noticed.  If they had, they didn't indicate anything. Thanks to Zzt's talents they managed to make it to the system a little before they were scheduled.  They were ready.  Casely had his probes ready.  They were just outside of the sensor grid that they had detected.  They were ready to make the first move, but first they had to make sure that all the information they had was up to date. He hit his comm badge.  "Sash to all senior staff, we will have our final briefing before we begin this assault at 0745, in the conferance room." Then he turned to K'ven, who had been on the bridge this morning almost as long as Sash had.  "Get me Lt. Commander West." (reply K'ven) "Lt. Commander, I hope you've had a restful trip because the fun is about to begin.  I'll be having my final briefing in fifteen minutes, is there anything else we need to share?" (reply West) (reply all) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.11.28 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Strat Ops - Sogh la' K'ven - 0733) K'ven had been happier since the so called tournament that Sash had set up. He found out that the game was no one suited for warriors and as such; he was very bad at it. Once the evening was done, he had went back to trying to devise a good plan of attack on the base they were heading toward. Casely and Holis had come up with some very good points and good assumptions as to what the enemy might have at their disposal. K'ven had one thought at the back of his mind though, why would they have such fire power at the base if they wanted to be hidden. If Klingons wanted to put something where they wanted no one to know it was, they would not put half a fleet around it. But, just in case, their plan was good. He had arrived the bridge just as Sash was sitting down in his chair and went to the Mission Control Station first to see if there had been anything new on what the sensors had found. Downloading the information onto his PADD, he walked over to where the FO usually sat. He had no worries about sitting there as there were no FO currently on board. It also seemed that Sash had expected him to sit there for most of his shift and he felt good there. He noticed later on that Sash and Ensign Dixx were exchanging glances, which, gave credance to the rumors that he had heard since the tournament. He had no cares one way or the other what the two did as long as they accomplished their tasks. He did not want to challenge the captain for the right to command the ship for two reasons, he had respect for the captain and this was not a klingon ship. But, if the mission seemed to be in jepordy of failing because of their relationship, he might. Sash hit his comm badge, bringing K'ven out of his studying, "Sash to all senior staff, we will have our final briefing before we begin this assault at 0745, in the conference room." After his announcement, Sash turned to K'ven, "Get me Lt. Commander West." "Aye Captain" K'ven replied as he was tapping the keys to call the Boudicca. He had also started to use the Standard word for captain instead of his native language. "Nimitz to Boudicca, Captain Sash has need to communicate with your Lieutenant Commander West. Please put him on screen." He said as he completed the action that had been ordered of him. It was not long before the Commander was on the screen and Sash was talking to him. He was extremely anxious, after all, this was his first major tactical engagement.   =/\=Sash to all senior staff, we will have our final briefing before we begin this assault at 0745, in the conferance room.=/\=   ~Well, this is it.~ Miles thought as he gathered his reports on a PADD and made his way to the conference room.   (USS Nimitz - Main Engineering - ACEO Ensign Miles O'Neill - 0735)   Miles entered to find it almost empty, save for a few people already there. "Hello." Miles said as he sat down at the nearest chair. ~I feel like the time when I took that simulation for my Academy final. I just hope I don't lose any friends here.~ Miles looked at his PADD, and made sure that his information was correct. A few minutes later, Ensign Casely entered the room, and said hello to him. "Hello Paul." Miles replied.   (Reply Casely i.f.w., any) (Posted by Matt Kirk) Stardate:2406.11.28 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - TAC/SC - Ensign {SG} Paul Casely - 0735) Paul had been working at his station for a better part of the morning. He ran and re-ran the simulation again and again. This had to be perfect. This had been a wonderful coalescence between the science department, the engineering department and tactical to create these 'special' probes that would look like a small fleet of Starfleet vessels when launched... at least long enough to get close enough to zap the equipment of the other ships with an electro-magnetic pulse. Paul knew it wouldn't disable them, but it should wreak a bit of havok at least for a few minutes, hopefully given the Nimitz a slight tactical advantage. The Captain's voice cut through his thoughts.   =^=Sash to all senior staff, we will have our final briefing before we begin this assault at 0745, in the conferance room.=^=   Paul had been expecting this. He started to download the basic mission data and probe deployment information into a PADD for the meeting incase it was called upon. He glanced over at the Captain who was now engaged in discussing the morning with Lieutenant Commander West on the Boudicca. Paul knew that the crews of the Nimitz and the Boudicca had done their best to try to account for any possibility... however, Paul also knew that something always happened that was unexpected, that was just the way things were. He also knew that there was the possibility that he would lose more friends during the next 24 hours.   Paul finished gathering his information and headed off to the conference room.   (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - TAC/SC - Ensign {SG} Paul Casely - 0739)   Paul walked into the conference room and scanned it briefly before sitting down. He put his PADD on the table. Everyone was looking tired and overworked. This was not unusual during a crisis situation. Still, the crew had managed to keep their spirits up. Paul greeted the first senior staff member he saw with a weak smile and a "hello".   (Reply any in conference room) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) Stardate:2406.11.28 (USS Nimitz - Counsellor's Office - COUNS - Ensign {SG} John Harrison - 0736) Counsellor John Harrison had awoken this morning with a slight tension and an alert awareness he didn't usually gain until mid-morning. This was it, he knew. They would reach their destination soon and then a lot of questions would be answered. Had they found Sevant? Who was holding him? And what would they have to go through to get to him? He had tried to answer these himself, but all he had been able to offer Captain Sash was speculation and assumption. Today, he would find out if his educated guesswork had paid off. He had risen, had a hearty English breakfast thanks to the replicator, and wandered the ship for a short while to get a feel for the atmosphere of the crew, before heading for his office. As he sat there, typing away at his workstation, the Captain's voice sounded. =^=Sash to all senior staff, we will have our final briefing before we begin this assault at 0745, in the conferance room.=^= ~Here we go,~ he thought. He began typing a short report into the PADD on his desk and made his way to the turbolift. (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - COUNS - Ensign (SG) John Harrison - 0742) Harrison entered and say that Paul Casely and Miles O'Neil were already present. As Miles had his eyes closed, Counsellor Harrison entered the room.   "Morning all," he said, sounding a little more cheerful than he felt.   "Hello Mr. Harrison." Miles said to the counsellor, opening his eyes. He got into another one of those "mini-naps" when Ensign Gralen entered the room.   Holis walked into the Conference Room PADD in hand to see most of the officers present, he nodded and gave a general "Good morning everyone"   "Hello Holis." Miles replied.   Paul nodded. "I've been doing simulations for most of the morning. How have you made out with the modifications of those probes?" asked Paul.   "I just finished the last one last night, around 0100 hours. Yeah, not much sleep." Miles replied.   "Understood!" said Paul with a grin.   Miles returned the grin, and went back to waiting for the Captain to arrive. He finally did, and the meeting began.   (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - ACEO Ensign Miles O'Neill - 0745)   "Engineering report," Sash looked over at Zzt.   Miles answered instead, "All of the engineering staff is fully prepared and ready to handle anything thrown at them. How have you made out with the modifications of those probes?" asked Paul.   (Reply Miles)   "Understood!" said Paul with a grin. Paul was settling into his seat and getting himself a cup of coffee when Harrison walked in.   "Morning all," said Harrison, perhaps a bit too cheerfully. Paul eyed the counsellor for a second. Was this a case of him really being in a good mood as the ship was hurtling towards a battle and a possible loss of lives, or was this Harrison trying to portray himself as cheerful to try and keep up the spirits of the rest of the crew? Paul decided that the latter was most likely, as he doubted Harrison was that oblivious to what was really going on.   "Good morning Counsellor," said Paul back, "How are you this morning?" Paul's voice was obviously tired and the slight edge of stress was probably creeping through.   (Reply Harrison)   At that point, Ensign Bixx entered the room and quietly took her place around the table. He was still more than a little embarrassed about what had happened in his quarters and still felt a guilty at having hurt two of his crew mates like he had. Stepping fully into the room, Zzt took a deep breath and let it out slowly. With out a word, he moved over to an empty spot, moved the chair out of the way, and sat down on the floor. Placing his PADD on the table top, Zzt's mouth was suddenly very dry. His eyes locked on the small glass set before him. He blinked. ~How am I suppose to drink out of that!?~ He thought, looking around for a drinking bowl big enough for him. Not seeing one, and with a sigh of resignation, Zzt stood once more and moved over to the replicator and replicated himself a large bowl of cool water. Taking the bowl in one paw, Zzt lapped up nearly half of it before making it back to his spot at the table and sat down. He noddded to the other officers as they sat. The mood was somber, yet still, they seemed to have "positive vibe", to borrow a phrase from Nessa. He stepped around Zzt's big bowl of water, putting a hand on the big Gerratlian's shoulder and giving it a squeeze. As he passed Bixx he smiled down at her. He could see her fight hard to hold back her own response. Then he found his own seat. Dr. Kinkaid practically ran into the room, huffing and puffing. His round face was a little flushed as Sash could see the exertion that he gave to get to the meeting on time. "Am I late?" he breathed heavily, "I'm sorry, I had... something come up in sickbay." "Sit down doctor," Sash replied, "we haven't began yet. In fact I just arrived myself." The doctor found his seat as Sash looked around the room. He sat up tall and tried to give off the air of confidence that he was trying to convince himself he had. What they were about to do was as foolhardy a plan as ever he heard. But if it meant getting Sevant back, then that's what they were going to do. He put both hands down on the table and pushed himself up to his feet, as if the burden of standing itself were a challenge. "Let's begin. We are almost within range of the planetary defense grid, which, as I have learned, is not as extensive as I would have thought. Let's have department reports first. Lt. Kinkaid?" Feeling a little put on the spot, mainly because he was late Kinkaid was a bit flustered. "Well, ummm... medical department is ready. We have set up a triage unit where everyone will be taken, on deck 11. Only those in dire need will be sent to sickbay. Hopefully we won't have any need for that. Dr. Mor'rel, on the Boudicca and I are set up to work together if needed. Their crew is a lot less experienced than ours, but also, their ship is not planning to take the pounding ours is." He wondered for a minute if that was a little out of line, but it was already said. Fortunately Sash only nodded. "Mr. Casely, how go the preperations with the probes?" (reply Casely) "Good," Sash nodded again. "K'ven, I want you to be in constant communications with Boudicca. We'll need to know the instant that they have Sevant back on board. We'll also need a route of out of here, in a hurry." (reply K'ven) "Engineering report," Sash looked over at Zzt. (reply Zzt, O'Neill) "How is the crew holding up, counselor?" (reply Harrison) "Ensign Bixx," Sash said, "I want you to coordinate with Xavier on the Conn. Make sure he is prepared for evasive maneuvers. I have a few tricks that I added into the conn database." (reply Bixx) "Is there anything else?" Sash asked. (reply any that want) Sash began to walk around the room. "I have the utmost confidence in you all. If I didn't we wouldn't be here right now. If we all stay alert, and do our jobs then we might come out of this in fairly good shape. And maybe take a little bit of LoDona down with us. Remeber our objective, and keep a heads up for our sudden departure. We're not looking for a clear win here, just to keep them busy. We begin at 0800. dismissed." It seemed that Sash was satisfied that they had arrived before him, but, K'ven had expected that to be so. Sash walked to his chair at the head of the table and K'ven sat down in the FO's chair close to him. He looked across the table to see the counselor staring at him, then K'ven nodded at him and added his normal grunt. K'ven looked around the room at the faces of the crew to see that most of them seemed to be fatigued. He knew the look, but, everyone had been putting up extra hours to make sure that all the simulations that were being run came out satisfactory and with the minimal time frame. No one wanted to see them fail, it seemed. Failure meant they would not see the station or their friends/family every again. To him, as long as they did what they were suppose to do, it would be a death worthy of a warrior. He sat back in his chair to wait for Sash to start the meeting, the meeting where he would be able to divulge information that he had recently gathered. Holis had heard the gossip about his earlier tangle with two men and it was no doubt tied to that. Zzt moved quickly despite his bulk and rearranged the furniture to give himself a place to settle then looked inquiringly at the glass of water set before him. After getting up and fetching a large bowl of water which he lapped on as he returned to the table he caught Holis' look and waved.   Holis gave him a bright smile and a nod. The Ursinoid had a childlike innocence about him that was very endearing, there was no doubt in Holis' mind that he was a gentle being... who could be extremely dangerous if aroused but till then he remained extremely naive and innocent.     Good morning Chief Zzt." Sash had decided that he would get reports from everyone first and he started with Doctor Kinkaid. K'ven watched the doctor as he fidgeted at first then started giving his report. Hopefully we won't have any need for that. Dr. Mor'rel, on the Boudicca and I are set up to work together if needed. Their crew is a lot less experienced than ours, but also, their ship is not planning to take the pounding ours is." Sash next went to Paul to give a report on the security aspects and the probes he and Holis had been working on. "Mr. Casely, how go the preperations with the probes?" (reply Casely) "Good," Sash nodded again. "K'ven, I want you to be in constant communications with Boudicca. We'll need to know the instant that they have Sevant back on board. We'll also need a route of out of here, in a hurry." "I can acheive that Captain. I will be keeping a watch on the battle and where all the ships are at on my control screen. This way I can have an escape route being updated by the computer as the battle continues. The route would then be updated to the helm as changes are made. As soon as the mission is accomplished, the escape route can also be sent to the boudicca if needed." K'ven really wanted to stay and finish the battle as he thought that it would be a glorious one, but, this was not a ship full of Klingons of like minds. We begin at 0800. dismissed." The Captain,s final words made T'pau flinch. This would be his first battle situation and since he was a science officer he began to feel a little useless. He was not a security officer or a pilot either, even though he was a shuttle pilot he had no idea how to pilot a starship. The Vulcan decided to stay on the bridge and work at his station. ~Hmmm, perhaps if I scan the satellite network I may be able to come up with something the others have not.~T'pau was too busy thinking to himself that so he did not see the Captain coming up the ramp. "I'm sorry Captain I did not see you there."The Vulcan gave the Captain a sheepish grin. (Reply Sash) "Captain while I have your attention could I please see you in a few hours I may have a way to disable the satellite network?"Asked the Vulcan confidently. (Reply Sash) After his conversation with the Captain the Vulcan headed for his Science station, if his guess was correct he may be able to bring the network down with one shot. (USS Nimitz - Bridge - ACSO - Ensign T'pau Vorik 0800) T'pau had been at his station for an hour and a half scanning the satellite network in front of them. His scans had proved his theory, the network operated on a lattice system with each satellite connected to each other.A sustained biometric pulse for one minute should disable or destroy every satellite.T'pau hit his combadge. =^=Captain this is Ensign Vorik I need to speak with you straight away.=^= (Reply Sash) (Posted by Scott Hepburn) Stardate:2406.11.28 USS Boudicca, Holo-Deck 2, MCO, Major Straton, 0757) After the pervious nights disaster, Eva had taken the away team training back a couple steps, to dry runs. Currently it was just her and the away team members on the holo-deck drilling. Running through the entire mission with out any opposition, yet. She had to be sure that each member was comfortable with their respective role before throwing Major Drizzt and his squad into the mix. Eva was pushing each member of the team very hard. She was barking orders rapid fire and then getting into any ones face that didn't move fast enough to carry out those orders, or just moved too slow. They could hate her all they wanted, long as they all lived through the mission and retrieved Sevant successfully. With nearly 20 years as a marine under her belt, and over half of those as a Combat Engineer, Eva has holding nothing back in the training of this team. She pushed, and pushed, and pushed more. If a team member was gonna break, she would rather have them do it now than when they were on the planets surface. After hours of 'dry runs', coming at the out post from every possible direction, Eva decided it was time to bring Spider and his team back into the holodeck and test the hours of drilling they had done. On their first run they managed to breach the bases perimeter before getting wiped out. Eva grilled the team and critique each members performance before resetting the simulation and doing it again. On the second and third run they managed to infiltrate the base itself before running into over whelming numbers. On the forth, fifth, and sixth attempts they managed to retrieve the holo-Sevant only to get killed on the way out. Then on the 7th run they completed the mission successfully, getting the holo-Sevant safely returned to the Boudicca. The away team celebrated with cheers as the holo-deck reset to the black and yellow grid. Eva allowed herself a nod of satisfaction. ~They are finally starting to come together as a cohesive unit.~ "All right people," She shouted over the cheering, "Lets do it again!" He saw what seemed to be a flicker of... something... between Bixx and him. Paul grinned inwardly. ~Good for them.~ He listened as the Captain called the meeting to order and began with Doctor Kinkaid. Kinkaid seemed slightly flustered, but recovered quickly and gave a workable report. Then the Captain turned to him. "Mr. Casely, how go the preperations with the probes?" asked Sash. Paul stood and cued up the probe diagrams on the conference room screen. A film ran through with them being launched, an image of six different starships overlaying them and moving into formation. The overlays stayed separate and did not cross over each other. Approximately 2 minutes into the simulation, the projected images began to flicker and weaken. Three minutes into the simulation the images were gone.   "As you can see by the computer generated simulation, we have been successful in our overall attempt to create the probe diversion. Doctor Gralen was successfully able to create a payload that will at least temporarily disrupt a ship's functions with an EM pulse. I was able to find a way to correct the spacial problem so the probes no longer crossed over the 'image' of the starship by having each probe's sensor unit modified so they couldn't penetrate holographic images. This is a task Engineering, and more specifically Ensign O'Neill, successfully completed for us this morning," stated Paul in an official tone, "Our largest problem at this point is the time allowable before the holographic imagers burn out. We have approximately 2 minutes before the image starts to collapse. After three we lose them completely. Doctor Gralen believes that a galactic event will help extend the deception a bit longer. I'm sure he'll explain that later in the briefing. I believe that with these warp capable probes, we should be able to get them close enough to the other ships to activate the EM pulse before the hologram integrity fails. Even if that isn't possible, the appearence of six other Starfleet vessels should give them pause for a few minutes."   With that, Paul paused and waited for questions.   (Reply any) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron)
